Eventually the new part would merge and blend into the rest of the build until there was no way to tell it from the original, but the fact that it is new has been adequately recorded and in the event of any lingering doubt all a future museologist has to do is scratch a little of the Hammerite away to reveal green and prove that we observed good museum practice by properly distinguishing old from new - just so long as they put it back when they're done.
