Re: How many record breakers are in running order?
And you have to ask, 18 months to free up an engine? The only bits that might need a bit of gentle persuasion in such a simple lump would be the pistons in the bores and even the worst case will soon move with some heat, penetrating oil and a block of wood and a hammer. I've freed off and dismantle...

Re: How many record breakers are in running order?
I attended the Friends evening at the National Motor Museum last Saturday to hear a talk - primarily on his book "The British are Coming" and his own forthcoming diesel class record contender the Project 100 - by Mike Varndell. Very enjoyable and well attended. Ian Stanfield, the NMM's Chi...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread
Not sure if this should belong in this thread or not...but the SRN4 Hovercraft have been mentioned here before. The Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-the-Solent has been the home of the two SRN4s Princess Margaret and Princess Anne since they came out of service in 2000. Both powered by Bristol Proteus en...

Re: Lord Montagu of Beaulieu
Thanks to Novie, I am reminded that the two record breakers did indeed tour some UK venues after 1964. I was thinking primarily of more permanent locations in this instance. It would be nice to see some pics if anyone has any.

Re: Lord Montagu of Beaulieu
Hello Steve, I couldn't quite remember the sequence of events for K7's display at Beaulieu and it certainly (along with CN7) spent a bit of a nomadic existence after the 1964 "double" including a stint at Belle Vue in Manchester. I have seen a coupe of pics of K7 in the old Montagu Motor M...

Lord Montagu of Beaulieu
The Beaulieu Estate has announced that Lord Mantagu has died peacefully earlier today, 31st August. Lord Montagu's achievements in many different fields are the mark of an incredibly busy and influential life. In the world of historic transport he was a figure recognized throughout the world for his...

Re: Pic of the Day
Another great Pic of the Day! Great sequence of the installation at the Ruskin, by the way. Much, much, better than the "installations" that you get at the likes of Tate Britain...well done to all involved. The pic reminds me of the one of the wrecked Orpheus at Pier Cottage. Very 1966!

Re: 50th Anniversary (part one) of DMC's "double"
Just a reminder that today - 31st December 2014 - is the 50th anniversary of the second part of the unique "double". Always thought it was cutting it a bit fine, but in the closing hours of New Year's Eve 1964 at Lake Dumbleyung, Donald and K7 set their final record of 276.33 mph. Always a...

Thanks everyone. It certainly appears that they're making progress. Hopefully, they will also acknowledge everything that you guys are doing too.
