Re: Return to the Water
“Much has changed since 1967....but there’s not much we can do about that.”
Luckily a certain band of people have a better attitude than that. Not much we can do about a wrecked boat, oh, hang on!

Re: Return to the Water
Let me see if I have got this straight. You have beavered away for the best part of 2 decades to restore Bluebird K7. Battled bureaucracy that wouldn’t give you so much as a sniff of coin of the realm to help out. Got bye-laws changed the best part of 10 years ago to enable you test Bluebird at spee...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread
If I have got my interpretation wrong please correct me and I will apologise on the forum. You are basically saying it is ok to fly an aircraft that turns out to be un-flightworthy as long as it doesn't cause a crash? You are involved in rebuilding Bluebird. The final result will be stronger, more l...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread
None of the aircraft maintenance stuff had any bearing on the accident at all- it's all by-product which will have serious ramifications for the vintage jet operators for a long time to come. The report clearly states that the aircraft was not was no longer in compliance with its permit to fly, man...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread
What a tragedy it hadn't been policed properly. A poorly maintained aircraft in the hands of a pilot not familiar with the type. Accidents will always happen but.. The paying public expect displays to be performed by highly skilled and experienced pilots, not someone who thought they could give it a...

Re: Pic of the Day
Will that take its strength back to original or is it just more important that it evens its properties after all the seperate areas of stretching, shrinking and welding?

For those of us, might be just me, with no idea about metallurgy. Why are the floor skins going off to be heated?

Re: Pic of the Day
Those spoons will probably need more than one run through the dishwasher. The choccie sauce I assume has two purposes, waterproofing and keeping disimilar metals apart. Was there an equivalent product used on the original build or was it a case of, bolts are tight so water should stay out? Forgive t...
