Re: Isle of Bute

Exasperating to think of the many places with which Donald Campbell and Bluebird have been associated over the years, where the local populace and authorities would, in all probability, move heaven and earth to host the proving trials. Meanwhile, back at the place with the longest and most famous co...

Can definitely recommend the book 'Not Much of an Engineer' - by (Sir) Stanley Hooker https://www.amazon.co.uk/Not-Much-Engineer-Stanley-Hooker/dp/1853102857 Thanks, I first read this a long time ago and your comment spurred me to read it again. Just as fresh, enlightening and utterly fascinating a...

Re: BBP Diary

Excellent diary, documenting meticulous research and painstaking recreation. You answered the question as to the origin of the aircraft wheels before I even had a chance to ask! Now, have you found a source of the correct railway wheels for when you launch the boat from the pier slipway on its retur...

We had a failure with the hyd when the accumulator let go but we can run without that.

From my long experience with sheds, I can't help feeling that the most significant achievement there was to keep the felt from blowing off the roof once they got over about 50 mph....

Re: Return to the Water

Frankly, it's sad as sad can be if we have to creep up on running on Coniston to satisfy those with a rose-tinted view of it all behind the backs of those who ought to have the balls to facilitate it in the first place. Very sad indeed and also somewhat self-defeating with regards to the aim of dem...

[quote=Renegadenemo post_id=24163 time=1522278293 There's always some ill-informed moaner complaining that the boat is taking a long time to build. I so wish we could round them all up and make them stand in the workshop on days like today. [/quote] I saw just such a comment on your favourite social...
