Re: Pic of the Day

To be pedantic for a minute (Me? No, never!) the floor must be nearer 20 feet long, because it starts at F19 like the cradle, which itself is 19 feet long and still doesn't reach all the way to the back of the boat. And so one personal attribute complements another. Me, being so forgetful, had to r...

Re: Pic of the Day

Was that supplied by Birmetals / Birmalloy? No way to be sure, but I suspect not. The Birmetals material seems to be pretty ordinary marine grade, 5xxx material but the main outer floor is very exotic. It's obviously come on a roll because it's 18ft long but so narrow that they've had to use two le...

And for the V-bombers in the 50s...

Re: Pic of the Day

Quick question about the adding of material to the floors. If they overlapped one way do the panels butt up in the other direction or do you have to joggle the bit your adding? It's one continuous floor 18' long so it has to be welded back together. We cut it at that position because everything for...

Re: David Tremayne's Stay Gold

not seen the video before.... so it all goes wrong as he gets off the gas, is it the precession that changes and gets him or was it something else? No definitive answer but it would appear to be a combination of the setup of the car and the met conditions at the time. Just one more gremlin to catch...

Re: David Tremayne's Stay Gold

I was a bit dubious about playing with a jet car. I've always viewed them as, well, a bit amateurish and dangerous and as for all this gratuitous popping and banging and sheets of flame, that should be reserved for people who think Subarus are cool cars. But here was a chance to work with a differen...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

I had a look at his Facebollocks page to see if there was any more news and apparently 23 people like the fact that he has terminal cancer. As a matter of fact, after a medical examination, I have been diagnosed with a lung cancer metastized to the liver. Dalton Tolliver, Jean-louis Seront, Gina Di ...

Re: Bluebird Archive Photos & Films

Got this on the guestbook from a lady in Syracuse, NY, USA. Anyone clear this up and I'll mail her back. I recently transferred some slides to digital from photos my father-in-law took in the Spring of 1958 of the Bluebird K7. I did some research and am fascinated by the historical significance and ...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

'diagnosed with lung cancer metastized to the liver'.
Sadly, 'pulling through' isn't something folk do from that position.
