Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Re Donald's will, he left the boat to Leo with instruction to keep up the inspirational work. Leo didn't make it to the party but we'll do it for him.

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Good to hear from you, Ernie, because I know you have your quiet spells so keep the old grey matter ticking over, eh. Fair questions but so many times we've attempted to answer things while the situation is changing rapidly leaving rumours and conjecture that just won't go away. Suffice to say, the ...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Ahhh, back to normality - that was knackering! I'll try to keep this brief without leaving anything out. Yes, K7 worked straight out of the box. She floated, started then went like a bat out of Hell when asked to. One or two bits fell off, leaked, worked loose or behaved differently to how we expect...

Re: Isle of Bute

The sponsons aren't stuffed with soggy expanding foam this time around so they're much lighter and the water in the cockpit was blasted in there by propelling the boat through its own spray using a jet engine. We just hadn't spotted it until we got a bit of spare time at the games. No setup at all...

Re: Isle of Bute

Max speed recorded was a totally effortless 157mph but there just isn't enough loch. The boat needs to be quite high on her wedges to keep her belly from slapping down and that means too much speed. We have learned a great deal so we've made the call that there's to be no more high speed runs. Ted c...

Re: Isle of Bute

The kind people of Bute are making sure the Loch has a better depth of water for the first weekend ... it is called rain! Can't wait to get amongst the kind people of Bute again. Been going there since I was 16 years old. Al little guy called Johnny Leask and his mum rented boats from the harbour a...

Re: Isle of Bute

Are there any plans to have video cameras in the cockpit filming a Donald's-eye view?
We will video the instruments and pilots' actions but not a Ted or Stew's eye view.
