Re: Pic of the Day

Thanks, everyone... Taking the floors off was the first major commitment in this project. Everything else we could bolt back on and pretend we'd never had it apart but the floors were a different animal and I didn't much fancy being the bloke who took Bluebird to pieces and never put her back togeth...

Re: Richie's Little Tank

Must only be me then. I liked the JCB approach and well done to whoever pitched to them to get involved in the first place. May as well laser it out and weld it then add fake rivets with plug welds - why not? It looked right. Did we insist that our planing wedges were milled by hand by some old-boy ...

Re: Pic of the Day

I should have made it clear that I had worked out about the centreline rivets. However, being a boater, certifiable genius, and annoying smart-arse, those big dark holes in the bottom of the hull struck me as sub-optimal. What happened there is that we added two nice thick stiffeners to span F-15 w...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Hey, Daniel... great to see you in one piece and still working on the boat. You had us all worried for a moment there. Welcome to the forum.

Re: Technical Talk

Many thanks to the workshop 'regulars' who allowed me to join them 'in action' along the length of the boat. It was as pleasure to have our op's team working on the tools alongside us. One thing it did demonstrate, and I don't mean this to be be in any way disrespectful to our visitors who worked l...

Re: Technical Talk

Amazing day in the workshop today and another major milestone reached. The second, 20ft long floor panel went on without a hitch and with about 5000 rivets. Eleven people and six hours of non-stop graft following several weeks of preparation and Bluebird is watertight once again for the first time i...
