Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Only the machinery space and a chunk of the bow is original on Turbinia. The entire mid section is new and when they made the new bit they welded it so as you walk along it it goes riveted, welded then back to rivets. Most of the brass is new too as it was extensively looted. Poor old thing.

Re: The Bloodhound SSC/Thrust/Noble Thread

@BBP team: After your experience from restoring and operating Bluebird, what do you think how much it would cost to build a Bluebird 2.0 WWSR contender and how long would that take? I mean, just in case there a several 25m floating around, it would give inverstors an option... :D We have often disc...

Re: The Bloodhound SSC/Thrust/Noble Thread

Re: Where can Bluebird be seen

It will take a serious autocrat to pull this off I reckon. And therein lies the first and biggest problem. You don't get autocrats in the wishy-washy world of committees. Their whole architecture ensures that one wishy-washy individual fetters the next until the whole conglomeration can barely move...

Re: Where can Bluebird be seen

I take it from last weeks face to face meeting with the LDNPA that there is no 'locked door' and all can move forward. Following the well earned backlash of public opinion and derision aimed at the LDNPA resulting from the Bute exercise it would appear that someone with a modicum of either cunning ...

Re: Where can Bluebird be seen

[Written in anger so apologies for any typo's.] Malcolm, calm... no swearing or profanity. I think all we have here is moderate to severe Type I activity but we'll stay across it in the meantime in case of the need to issue a full Type II alert. And, while we're putting the truth out there, please ...

Re: Where can Bluebird be seen

That goes back to my comment regarding you chasing the Ruskin for the signed paperwork
Signed! They've not even begun to discuss what needs to be written down let alone sign anything!

Re: 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea - The Diving Thread

Sally had me chuckling, apart from being a total embarrassment to the diving community I am not bad, but desperately need modernising
Well you know all the right people now - onwards and upwards
