Re: Isle of Bute

The sponsons aren't stuffed with soggy expanding foam this time around so they're much lighter and the water in the cockpit was blasted in there by propelling the boat through its own spray using a jet engine. We just hadn't spotted it until we got a bit of spare time at the games. No setup at all...

Re: Isle of Bute

Max speed recorded was a totally effortless 157mph but there just isn't enough loch. The boat needs to be quite high on her wedges to keep her belly from slapping down and that means too much speed. We have learned a great deal so we've made the call that there's to be no more high speed runs. Ted c...

Re: Isle of Bute

The kind people of Bute are making sure the Loch has a better depth of water for the first weekend ... it is called rain! Can't wait to get amongst the kind people of Bute again. Been going there since I was 16 years old. Al little guy called Johnny Leask and his mum rented boats from the harbour a...

Re: Isle of Bute

Are there any plans to have video cameras in the cockpit filming a Donald's-eye view?
We will video the instruments and pilots' actions but not a Ted or Stew's eye view.

Re: Isle of Bute

I hope K7 behaves for you. She finally behaved on Saturday with a series of clean lights and good temp's. Only glitch was a blown gasket at the top of the water brake. We managed to squeak an o-ring on the bottom face but due to a machining error when it was made we can't do likewise at the top so ...

Re: John Cobb- Crusader/Railton Special

TSR-2 did it
Long pondered this one. A small aircraft stuffed with two afterburning Olys and virtually no wing or any other provision for carrying fuel. It surely had to be even more compromised than a Lightning.
