Re: Crusader Build

Just to keep you posted, my book "Crusader" is now out, and available from Amazon, Waterstones, Foyles or direct from the publisher, EVRO.

Hope you all like it

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Sorry, I don't get on here much these days as I am in the final process of getting my Crusader book ready for publication on March 28th 2021. Possibly with a book launch, Covid allowing in April. You can discard the waves as a cause. You can discard the forward shoe collapsing as a cause. Both had a...

Re: Crusader Build

Of course I have a vested interest in this! Crusader has been a big part of my life since Sally Railton contacted me some 15 years ago.

Hoping to supply some decent copies of the drawing I have very soon.

Re: John Cobb- Crusader/Railton Special

I suspect from my silence, you have all concluded I had either died, or was busy, and as you can see from this, it is the latter!!! The book is currently in the final stretch, design, picture picking and adding two chapters because of exciting developments. During research, I discovered Railton was ...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Well said Sir Malcolm! And a similar situation with Bluebird K3 I guess too Don't get that, K3 was sold by Sir Malcolm, and has a chain of documented sales until PFH brought it when I told him Thorpe Park were selling it. There's no confusion over ownership, it goes where the owner says it does! As...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

Anyway, Steve. I know you have some detailed info on Crusader. Did you never build those flying balsa models as a kid? From what I've seen you have the plans to cut all your Crusader parts out of quarter ply and put that together on your dining room table. I get too bored to be a good model maker, ...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

I would really, really, REALLY like a large scale model of Crusader, for obvious reasons, but not an easy one to produce as a kit?

That Quicksilver, I'd agree with Ernie, not the four pointer. The four pointer was he "K7" with the four sponsons.

Re: Blue Bird K4

Cheers, that's the list as I have it. What puzzles me about Du Cane is WHEN did he get time to study boat design? Joined the navy as a boy seaman at 14, then went on to the RAF as a pilot, then taken on by Vospers in the commercial department, and then as a director, his main job being go ensure a f...

Re: Blue Bird K4

It is all interesting stuff!! Sea Sled, I was informed that it was more to use the air cushion between the two hulls, maybe I have been mis - sled!!? It is pretty safe to say, whenever you think you have found the origin of something, you find some bugger did it 20 years before the date you thought!...

Re: Blue Bird K4

I'd refute canard or reverse three pointers are "bad" design or unstable. Ones without dead rise do have problems though, but there are many that have been successful, even going around corners!! Ted Jones DID invent prop riding, he approached Sayres with the idea before he had built a boa...
