Re: early 80`s jet hydroplane, Coniston.

someone mentioned large flames coming out of the back of the engine.. weeellll it was a cheat ! publicity is all, I used to chuck a cup of AVTUR [jet engine fuel] into the engine before starting her, it was a great show and appreciated by all, apart from me! I was at the rear leaning on the wing wit...

Re: early 80`s jet hydroplane, Coniston.

having picture problems again. BP was designed so that she would cut through any small waves she met without causing oscillation. Look at Ken Warby's planing shoes and you will see a high deadrise. Bill if you look at the photo I posted earlier of the capsule on the hoist, you will see a 'lump' on t...

Re: early 80`s jet hydroplane, Coniston.

Sorry to upset anyone but no book from me!. I have all the build up photos of K8 from her just being a scrap[costly scrap at £2000 per 22ft sheet of marine ply] through to her completion. The drawings are [exact copies] what Ron [Wobbly] Wolbold used to build her from. There were no apparent structu...

Re: Quicksilver

Its not a new idea to run the engine through the main sponson supports, John Cobb did it with Crusader back in '52, unfortunately I cannot attach the photos I have as they are too big to send on this site.
