Re: What have forum members been up to?

That downhill run through the streets looks like something I would have jumped at the chance to have a go at back in my younger mountain-biking days, when bravado occasionally exceeded the laws of physics. :D

Re: What have forum members been up to?

I was fortunate also to have a similar wander around inside the 'Old Grey Lady' (WR977) That'll be Newark Air Museum, then .. I've lived not six miles from that place for the best part of 30 years and not paid a visit yet. Need to take a look. N. It's where half my family comes from, I've spent cou...

Re: What have forum members been up to?

Indeed, just lucky enough to turn up, by chance, on one of the rare days that they open her up to the public. I was fortunate also to have a similar wander around inside the 'Old Grey Lady' (WR977), had an interesting chat with a retired pilot who'd logged over 1000 hours in her and was reunited, af...

Re: What have forum members been up to?

After missing out at my last opportunity 22 years ago, because someone went home with the key in his pocket, I was FINALLY able yesterday to have a peek through the windscreen of a legend! Very happy chappy! :D

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

I thought there was a finite speed for a hydrofoil, because of the cavitation, which is (again from memory) lower than the the 149 mph (probably lower than 100 mph) that Malcolm suggests may be the target? The Hanning-Lees managed around 70mph only with the original single hydrofoil before cavitati...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

From what I remember, NX611 had a bit of a going over at the end of the sixties to get back in the air after a couple of stagnant years, so wasn't as bad as she seemed by the time she was auctioned in Blackpool, only a couple more years on from her last flight. Moving on to her stint as gate guardia...

Re: What have forum members been up to?

Bill, I would imagine your emotions when watching that film equate pretty closely to mine when watching this; xq2xStb0R-c Same age as me, had been riding for the same amount of time and was going at half the speed I've done in the past. One key difference though: Aside form the fact that I would've ...

Re: What have forum members been up to?

"Audrey Mestre - The Truth Behind the Deep (HD)" Watched that tonight and it really affected me. I felt sick when she was at 90m with no help. My knowledge of diving doesn't stretch much beyond "you go underwater and either hold you breath or take bottles of gas", but that was just horrifyingly pai...
