Re: Other Recoveries

As a matter of interest, as the area is (distantly) related to my specialisation, has anyone done a Bayesian analysis for either X5 or O13?

... I'm guessing yes.

Re: Other Recoveries

X-5 may still be in there... somewhere. I can't help thinking that if it were there to find, in that area, you would have found it. With that standard of picture it would have been seen. There may, of course, be many ways it which it would not be there to find, quite apart from the idea that they g...

Re: Other Recoveries

Thanks for the info - I should have known you would have been involved. I can't help thinking the fuss about a VC is a bit of a distraction. It seems to me more important to find out what happened and where those four men are. It also distracts from the fact that there were four men aboard, not one....

Re: Pic of the Day

OCD - Original is Correct, Dammit! I might have known, from reading the site and forum, that you would be _way_ ahead of me! Still, its details like this that add interest to me, like the missteps in original build. They are clues and pointers to the existence of the various people behind Donald and...

Re: Pic of the Day

Are you sure that its actually 5 x 7 and not something like 4 2/3 x 7 or 5 x 7.5 ? The official relative dimensions of the Union Flag have been 1:2 for a long time, except with the army where it was 3:5, but a lot of flags are shown at 2:3. None of these fit 5in by 7in but its damn close to 4.66in x...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

Wow! Just went for a quick look and ended up sitting through it from start to finish! thanks :) Nay bother- it's stupidly rare so it's been nice to put it out there for people to enjoy. :D Very rare, and a good cue to point out this: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/recognition-for-veterans-of-ar...

Hmm, that look familiar - maybe he wasn't sent home as I was told? Or the events I remember were FI 04? In any case, the Cody complex is behind the trees by the new Control Tower. I have put together a map of the airfield to show you where we were, plus some points of interest - including a couple o...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

Anyway, Mr sbt, never mind all that - you have me (and probably a few others) intrigued. Do tell us more about D.S.T.L. The website: https://www.dstl.gov.uk/ The Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defence_Science_and_Technology_Laboratory Basically DERA absorbed all of the non-nuclear def...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

... health and safety officials at the time had the boddies and scrap cleared away and the air show went on. Seems unbelievable this day and age. Quite believable - its long been a standard practice to carry on, if possible. What you don't want is roads needed for ambulances and rescue vehicles clo...
