Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

Shot across the bows accepted, whether it was intended as such or not, in good humour. Sometimes I forget that most people don't have my weird tastes and sense of humour. Or play quite so many video games or watch as much YouTube as I do. Mind you, its games like this that will eventually be the onl...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

I though this might amuse.

Re: Technical Talk

The Blue Team are taking accident investigation to new levels, i wonder who will notice beyond these pages. At least two, probably three, reports need to be written after the installation of K7 in the museum. 1. A 'Dig Report' on the Engineering Archaeology and what was learnt from it. 2. Based on ...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

The Southampton Water crash is relevant to the preservation of K7. The crash occurred because the left nosegear door gave way during the landing run. This allowed water under pressure to reach bulkheads not designed to withstand it, they gave way and the aircraft began to flood rapidly. At the same ...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

Unfortunately these days speed is more important than accuracy. Plus the website side of things isn't staffed as strongly as the TV and Radio side. Its not just the BBC however, all generalist press has 'dumbed down and thinned out', getting rid of specialist corespondents in general.

Re: Pic of the Day

Wasn't the 24 billion dollar Apollo 11 landing saved by a Biro lid, or some such 'what have you'? It was the pen itself. Anything similarly pointy would have worked - it was used to flip the Ascent Engine Arm circuit breaker which had been broken off by Armstrongs PLSS. Pen type not confirmed as a ...

Re: What have forum members been up to?

I know a little bit about how you feel. I spent a good part of the Saturday before last burying my Cat who died suddenly in her sleep, after a long decline due to age. She used to sidle up and provide a comforting paw when I was upset. Now its sort of a recursive process of missing that unbidden paw...

I think some of you might find it interesting.

Another one for Richie? Fancy a KV1 after a K7?
