Re: Michael Schumacher/Formula 1

They are just trophies..... Not sellable... Not worth much in scrap..... Crack on make some more And some of them aren't even the orginals, they are Replicas. This happens quite a lot, various peoples contracts state that they get to keep the orginals. Apparently some drivers are pretty hot on this...

Re: The Bloodhound SSC/Thrust/Noble Thread

Given that it'll be getting on for twenty years since Thrust SSC ran, I hope Andy Green is still feeling sharp, as that thing is going to be terrifying! The RAF still allow him to fly one of Her Majesties Very Expensive Aircraft and he's regularly competing in Sportscar races to rebuild his...

... plus enough epoxy magic to mean the thing will hold together at 1000mph without the rivets. Not easy to make epoxy bond properly to aluminium - do we know what method they're using? Not really sure its actually Epoxy - its 'an adhesive' (I suspect it doesn't come from a sponsor) and they have p...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Cavitation, which occurs below 100mph, unless they've invented/discovered something new!! Nothing new. Slo-Mo-Shun set a 178 mph record with a prop - the last one set that way. And Mario Verga was doing around 190 mph when he died in Laura III in 1954. Both of these were prop-riders, where only the...

Re: Nomadic, Titanic & other historic vessels

BTW Sir Richard Grenville was straight out of Monty Python. After at least 12 hours of battle, still outnumbered 51 to 1 (two of his opponents had collided in the night), nearly out of powder, with only 16 men uninjured from 250, with the ship totally dismasted, with six foot of water in the hold an...

Re: Nomadic, Titanic & other historic vessels

Just had a 'Ding' moment of my own. At work I regularly pass a Ships Bell. The building I work in is the 'Grenville Building' and the bell is from HMS Grenville (1942). HMS Grenville was, until 1974, the trials ship of the Admilalty Surface Weapons Establishment, which used to occupy the site and fo...
