Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

An hour ago, I was reminded by a member of the British public, that individuals and families have lost deposit money because they expected Bluebird to be running on Coniston Water in July 2019. Money which has been retained by Coniston businesses or businesses operating within Coniston. 'Lost' becau...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

I was upset on the day that the Members of the LDNPA voted (at their Kendal offices) not to give the operators of Bluebird any opportunity to run the craft after the Proving Trial. No reason for the vote against was given, and I cannot recall the discussion points. The organisers of the Speed Record...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

For over 35 years I have given talks to various groups. Regarding Campbell, out of interest I always ask the audience what significance Dumbelyung and lake Mead have, blank expressions. Ernie, I am sure that your audiences now know about those two important locations, as well as Ullswater perhaps. ...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

I am not sure what reply #403 from Conistoncollie was meant to achieve, after 26 posts had been made in 28 hours. The forum 'excitement' was of course started by the BBC article "What next for Donald Campbell's record-breaker?" Bill's quoted words were directed at three members of the crew and came ...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Some interesting reporting, along with perhaps 'lets leave out some of the detailed 'facts' and focus on the contention of documents' and then throw in how lawyers may now need to be involved. At the November BEWG meeting, the Curator of the Ruskin had two (2) of the three (3) documents that set out...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

The bit I dont get is why all the parties involved . BBP , BEWG , LDNPA ,Ruskin folks etc all not just agree to meet at a local pub put there differences (if there are any) aside and over a few pints hash things out and agree on something The Bluebird Event Working Group (BEWG) was established in 2...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

I think even 2020 would be a stretch. Coniston is a village which can organise popular events such as the Country Fair and the Coniston 14 lake perimeter run and hosts many other major cold swimming and running activity during the rest of the year. (And feeds and shelters those who want to reach th...

perhaps worth wrapping this thread up ….. starting a new one titled "2019 operations"
I would support that view. However I hope someone in Coniston is planning for 2020, because that event seems to need a long lead in time.

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

I still say wait and see what they say rather than speculate but it isn’t good at all as it stands. I know nothing more than anyone else. However, whilst the BBP may well 'wait and see … rather than speculate', may I suggest that the various organisations within Coniston get together and start plan...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Richie, just hit the link I posted a page back and the statement from Steve Tatlock is there in and amongst the FAQs. I do not know what 'planning' there has been behind the scenes of the BEWG as the decision was theirs to reveal.
