Re: Pic of the Day

Is the low pressure fuel valve in todays pic a Worcester (as in Norris Bros) or a Saunders Valve (Saunders Valve Company)?

Re: Pic of the Day

I've done it once, I'm not doing it again (on the originals and the copies!!) So who has the register, or registers, of these drawings ??? Don't qoute me on this, but I think my register went with a full set to Beaulieu, although I believe Mike (Varndell) may have re=cataglogued it all. My lists we...

Re: Miss Britain III

I'm going from memory, so the usual disclaimers apply, but I think when the reg' was changed the "Z" was painted out and the infinity added (as per the photo's) and the "7" was merely converted to a "2", badly!!

Re: Miss Britain III

It's a "2", always was, Scott=Paine was actually told to get rid of the stylised "2" and makeit more clearly a "2" . The reason it was originally done was that MGBIII was going for the off shore record, the outright record was an after thought, and much like K3 was, for a time, Z/K30, MGBIII was Z/K...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

It's a Replicast, made by the genius that is Fred Harris. Fred sold his masters but continues to makes short runs on commision and for himself. I know there's always a lot of "that's the wrong shape, that was bigger etc etc" when it comes to models, but what Fred produced, and how, was miraculous. I...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Now by odd coincedence, I was once asked to manage the Human League (very much post their succesful years, about 2002), and found Phil to be a total petrol head (he had a superb Laverda Jota amongst others) and later bumped into him severaal times when I worked in F1, where he ignored the drivers an...

Re: Technical Talk

Ken (and Lew') were truely a pair of lifes true gents. Lew' helped me with Leap Into Legend, but not much, he'd been the one that all the time Norris Bros were working with DC, made sure money was coming in, because it never did from any of the Bluebird projects. Ken was a constant in writing Leap',...

Re: Technical Talk

I have a sneaky feeling that Ken asked me to get those bits and pieces together for posting, especially after we visited Jack Lovell to see the ATL "model", which bless him, he produced form about four eigth generation photocopies of the wrong version.

Re: Miss England III

90% certain it was destroyed in the same fire that did for Miss England II. Lord Wakefield had stored a large collection in a warehouse in Chiswick, which was hit by and incendary bomb in October 1940. Because of it being war time, names etc couldn't be published, but a very small article in the loc...
