Re: Technical Talk

I have just spent a happy morning going through old papers (Crusader, again) at what was once, Pyrene. Now, while they went off and rebuilt my old brass extinguisher to working condition, I looked through some schematics of the extinguiher system for K6, which was that complicated. I had a quick loo...

"A 100 mph speed is promised for the craft"

Cavitation, which occurs below 100mph, unless they've invented/discovered something new!!

Re: Technical Talk

When you look at both vessels, there were lots of holes in both, supposedly sealed, but some water had to get in!!

Re: Technical Talk

Just curious, but it occured to me that on Crusader, the sponsons were designed and built as a single unit each side, whereas on K7 it appears the sponson and the planeing surface were two parts, joined together. Crusader had quite a few leaks to plug, most of them, surprise suprise, in the sponsons...

Re: Michael Schumacher/Formula 1

Oh without doubt Nigel, as the old addage goes, "why let the truth get in the way of a good story"! The is supposed to be a film in production about Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert, it's on hold, as the Stewart's have withdrawn the cooperation. Why? Because the producers told them they were going...

Re: Michael Schumacher/Formula 1

Without digging the text out (it's on a hard drive somewhere, though I think Novie and Bill were there when I did this particular talk), Stirling made it quite clear to me that he had been misqouted, and more than once, to the extent he left me in his lounge and disappeared into his office. Twenty m...

Re: Michael Schumacher/Formula 1

I gave a talk at Coniston (a while ago) based on what Stirling had told me over the years, an he had nothing but praise for Donald. If needed, I'll post the text. Jackie, I had a lot of time for ( I did some archiving for him at Stewart GP), never did find a contract as he did everything with Ken Ty...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Audi have just announced there "driverless" car managed a lap of a track (unnamed) faster than the version driven by a human, peaking at 149 mph. Like you say Nigel, impressive technology, but I bet it wasn't much fun!
