Re: Technical Talk

Ken (and Lew') were truely a pair of lifes true gents. Lew' helped me with Leap Into Legend, but not much, he'd been the one that all the time Norris Bros were working with DC, made sure money was coming in, because it never did from any of the Bluebird projects. Ken was a constant in writing Leap',...

Re: Technical Talk

I have a sneaky feeling that Ken asked me to get those bits and pieces together for posting, especially after we visited Jack Lovell to see the ATL "model", which bless him, he produced form about four eigth generation photocopies of the wrong version.

Re: Miss England III

90% certain it was destroyed in the same fire that did for Miss England II. Lord Wakefield had stored a large collection in a warehouse in Chiswick, which was hit by and incendary bomb in October 1940. Because of it being war time, names etc couldn't be published, but a very small article in the loc...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Yes, I can see the belly of a CN7 type boat might cause problems, big area to get unstuck! I loved John Shinton's model's. His sell through ones wer fantastic, and I once tried, unsuccesfully, to get my hands on a Jaguar wind tunnel model of his. John is still modelling, one of those I put in the &q...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Might be slightly earlier than '92 Nigel, 90 or 91, I didn't write the date on the back, and 92 I was busy doing other stuff, probably 1991. It is Southampton. I had done a huge sheet of data for Ken on power to weight ratio on every land and water speed vehicle, which he then didn't refer to once!!...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Just back to the UK having found a picture of the oft spoken of, but rarely seen big white "CN7 with fins" version of Quicksilver. I took the picture, Arthur had put up his paintings and gone to the cafe, and David looks like he is just plain bemused!! http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t2...

Re: Lord Montagu of Beaulieu

Another one of those incredibly helpful, generous people who have had the pleasure of knowing and being involved with on various book and TV projects. Indeed, K7 was removed from Beaulieu for the Orpheus conversion in 1966, and Edward and DC were quite the party duo in London in the 1950s and 60s. N...

Re: Bluebird K4 Proprider

Well I thought a "skeg" was rudder and prop' support all in one, and I knew they had gone "offset", I was pointing out that it may have been a mistake, as the prop support at the stern doesn't look up to the job, and as shaft flexing is what "did for" K4, I thought it w...

Re: Bluebird K4 Proprider

The K4 prop-rider, probably one of the least photographed record attempt boats ever. I don't think there is very much about on her at all. I have never (and I've been doing the record breaking/Blue Bird (two words for Sir Malcolm) thing for some time), seen a picture of the dash board. Even in Leo's...
