Re: Frame Numbering.
Hi Yall, Having spoken to a friend of mine, over a couple of ales, as yer do, he says the reason K7's frames are numbered as they are, is because the rearmost frame is the datum point for everything else. If that point is out there will be error from then on. The confusion is K7 is a boat but her c...

Re: Sapphire engine
Drawings were done for five K7s with different engines, the Nene being the prefered engine at first, followed by the Avon. The Beryl finally being selected as the were A] free, B] were designed to run where water was very likely to enter, e.g the SRA/1. Also, as the engine was a low production run (...

Re: Bluebird Modellers group question
It was always designed to be where the fuel tank sits, although as has been said, that was when Beryl lived in there, the Opheus changed things, hence some lead ingots, but in summary, it's supposed to be where the fuel tank is!

Re: Donald Campbell Photos
The date makes perfect sense, I thought as much drom the cars in the car park. CN7 would have been either some sketches or early drawings, but Ken Norris did have some large scale fibreglass models of CN7 (which split around the waist) to try various layouts, chassis', drive trains etc, maybe this w...

Re: Queen & Ace of Spades
The story was that DC was playing patience, so who ever was "involved " in the game sounds a touch dodgy! Leo told me Donald told him it had happened, but that he himself didn't see it. He also told me he told Donald, "well if you did, you'd better not run, that's if you believe that ...

Re: Bluebird K7, the "New" tail fin & Balance point query
if the basics are wrong, I don't waste my time! So hows about a joint effort to write a correct series of pages in a better manner and get the stuff up on the web ? I can handle page design if you can handle the text. or.......................................................maybe not. Just an idea ...

I think, and stress think, it was done as part of the Bluebird Supporters Club, which has Don Wales in, amongst others, but that doesn't mean to say they have read it! Two cock ups like the ones are saw are enough for me, if the basics are wrong, I don't waste my time!

Re: Donald Campbell Photos
Then I'd suggest he was looking to get the Fireball built there. Wasn't the prototype Jetstar wood? But production ones were Fibreglass, but these pictures appear to be late 50s, so it's a bit previous for those anyway. Only fibreglass I can think of on CN7 was the rebuild canopy cover, and the late...

Re: Bluebird K7, the "New" tail fin & Balance point query
I randomly clicked on a subject, an article, scrolled down and read the first line I saw "Bluebird K3 was built around a central ali' beam" or some such, which should read " Blue Bird K3 was built around a central armature of Canadian Rock Elm and five ply wood". Next was that Du...

Re: Bluebird K7, the "New" tail fin & Balance point query
You'd be surprised how many people who work in F1 simply don't understand it! Still I used ALL of their facilties when I wrote Leap into Legend so I owe them a bit!! I just had a look at the site linked, "some minor inaccuracies", well the bit I read was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY away from the tr...
