Re: Technical Talk

I'll have to check my K3 folder, though I was going from memory re Ryland on K3. Maybe just drop the "RY" and coat it in "LARD"!!?? I know the finish on the bottom of K3 had not been got at (unlike the sides and top, which were awful as well as wrong), especially the parts that h...

Re: Technical Talk

I know the stuff we used on K3 was Ryland, but they have gone now, and as has been said, one hell of a performance to apply. We discussed using "normal" black/grey marine paint, and spraying her with silicone to aid unsticking, as there was never then, and not now, any intention of "r...

Re: Technical Talk

When we stripped K3 some areas looked black, some looked gunmetal/greyish black. It's supposed to reduce "grip" between the large area underneath and the water, but who knows!!

Re: Technical Talk

The same graphite stuff that was on the bottom of Miss England II and III, K3 and K4, but not K6, Ryland product I think, a real pain to apply!!

The "Look" of engineering.

I looked at todays "Pic of the day", and that suits my take on engineering perfectly. To see the mix of painted surfaces as well as various screw heads, fixings and metals, left in their "raw" state, is the epitome of what engineering should look like. I was drawn to this as a yo...

Re: Can anyone Identify this part please ?

Just to play Devil's advocate, and answer a question I had while researching my book, how many later "third party" installations went into K7, either from day one, or on a record by record basis? I rralise the radio was army, rather than air force, but what are the chances this part might ...
