I couldn't resist any longer, here is my 1/12 scale K7 alongside a ply sponson template for my 1/4.2 scale next project. I'm feeling giddy, I might start going to the gym...

Hi Ian, it is a good pic, I've not put the chamfer on my 1:12 scale, I'll see how that works on the water before I make the decision on the 1/4.
What was used for the bolt head detail, it looks really good.

Is the 1\4 a turbine model wayne?
Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models
I wish mate, perhaps if I win the lottery, it will be powered by a couple of 6.5 hp brushless motors, I'm thinking one prop either side of the planeing wedge.longarmedgibbon wrote:Is the 1\4 a turbine model wayne?
The hull will be fibreglass with titanium sheeted wedges, I don't want to go there but there should be enough room to mount motors in the sponsons as well if need be. I don't know if it's been done before but would be worth a punt if I can't get anywhere near 75mph...

These were an interesting find on eBay. 1mm diameter dome head rivets made out of resin, I got 700ish for just over £10

Only about another 19,700 needed then...

My wife thinks I'm completely mad, just had a proper belly laugh, thanks Bill[.]
Bought a half sheet of ply (2x8) today, to use as a building board for the big one, I strengthened the back with a couple of lengths of 1.5" sq pine to make it nice & rigid. I checked it for squareness & all was spot on.
I drew the centreline on & pinned the plan view drawing on the centreline with the sponson tips level with the front edge of the board.
I'm feeling quite pleased with myself at this point.
I started putting pin holes through the plan into the board to capture all the crucial datums exactly, or so I thought....
It turns out that the plan isn't exactly symmetrical or square, it stood out like a sore thumb as soon as I put a square & ruler on it. I was hoping that the pin holes would be good enough for the layout but after finding all the issues I've redrawn the spars but I'm going to have to use tracing paper & cardboard templates to ensure the hull shape is symmetrical.
Vor sprung cardboard technik, as they say in Germany...
Back at it tomorrow.
