Hello Bill and Wayne, yes intakes it me a longgggge time for me to figure out the shape, the nose as well but thanks to help and your photos I got there I asked Rob about a picture from the underside of intakes but I guess you all are busy getting K7 Finnish
If anyone has time a photo would help a lot.
I have to say it again k7 is looking fantastic!!

Wouldn’t bother with turbine or EDF given its weight... if you go with a high KV brushless motor with a steep pitch prop it should go.

That’s certainly the cheaper option at first Richie.
My 1/4 scale version has bags of room inside for 2 or even 3 props, motors, batteries & ESC’s required.
If after all that it was still struggling to hit scale speed there is always the option to install motors & props in the sponsons as they have bags of room inside them too.
So 5 heavy duty ESC’s, 5 motors, batteries etc etc, cost starts climbing quickly to turbine territory if you’re not careful ...

Wouldn’t put five in, more you add the more weight you add, just needs a high KV motor and correct pitch prop. No good spinning the shaft around d if the pitch is wrong you just cavitate and lose the thrust you want.

As for batteries, some nice high discharge saddle packs would be the way to go, turnigy nano tech maybe

Hehe, I’m a way off that yet, I was going to go down the fibreglass route for the whole body, but I’ve decided to only do the bottom half in fibreglass & make the rest from plasticard & 3D printed parts.
I’m busy trying to teach myself Fusion 360 CAD & how to manipulate plasticard.
Here’s some of the bits I’ve been working on, both WW2 trucks, a WC51 & a Hanomag.

Hi Wayne, Richie, I think the propeller version of boat just needs 1 prop with a whacking great motor and the wright pitch ,also you may find making wedges on sponsons bigger, to help boat up I can remember someone saying they did that. My boat is looking like it just came out of a lake! but I can see my work in changing to the 64 spec. I've put some photos on ,shaping intakes,,,again,,,got new exhaust cone today it's spot on anyway I'm managing a couple of hours each day now so I'll keep you all up to date, model trucks look great and the 3D idea for making parts magic idea I'd like to see it take shape.

Much as I enjoy a bit of therapeutic Lego in my old age, I don't think there's a hope in hell of Lego picking up a Bluebird set idea and producing it - it's just too much of a niche interest. And perhaps it's just me, but I think it's a tad 'off' to immediately be thinking about earning from such a thing, too.

Well, 2 months down the line I've given it a go. I will raise my hand up now, it's not perfect, because translating such a streamlined object into LEGO is not easy. Had I not incorporated the mini-figure I might have made life easier for myself, but there you go. The way this works is that if LEGO did make it they'd polish the design. You need to make a LEGO account and fill out a little survey to support it, but it's free aside from a little time. I hope you'll feel it's a reasonable stab at it; I've linked back here too. Fingers crossed!

Fusion 360 is a great bit of software especially as it's free for non-commercial users, I taught myself it a while ago, I used it to model up the launch and recovery cradle for Bluebird, I've not used it for 3D printed parts but my local library has just got a fab lab in with 3D printers and Laser Cutters so may give it a go
