basically far too much drag, all that whetted area slows you down, gotta keep it dry in order to get it to go fast.
Hence the supercavitation question - that'd get the drag off.

Doesn't the craft have to touch the water to be classed as a boat? If the potential drag surfaces were travelling within a pocket of gas it's no longer touching the water.

The Yanks have a hydrofoil that has reached 140+ mph, it was supposed to have super cavitating foils but I strongly suspect that the foils got it up to the theoretical top hydrofoils speed [about 90mph] then it became a hydroplane, planing on its lower foils. I have seen photos of it and it looks alarmingly similar to Tony Faheys concept boat on his website. If you search the web it looks VERY similar to the model boat 'Zytron'.

Anyone have any updates on the cockpit requirements? I see several boats on facebook making progress. My count is at least 6 wsr's being built.

There is a news piece in the latest Speed Record Club Fast FACTS newsletter dealing with the cockpit rules of the UIM.

UIM rules came into effect for 2014, but were not as 'earth shattering' as had probably been expected - just find a registered cockpit builder and an engineer to run the maths calculations :geek:

I'm sure someone has asked this before but!
I have been approached by a model builder who wants to build a scale model of K4. Can anyone help ? He especially needs the internal layout and diagrams of the internals, wiring looms etc.
I know I'm going to get flack for this but he wants to build a model, scale......1/2 size
