Got every faith that guy will do it. Looks great in that pic. Need some footage to see how stable things were. Looks bloody good though

Side on footage has been put on fb by Triumph Global. Does not help with identifying the stability of the streamliner. Guy says it was all OK. If it was not for Guy this would be just 'another' USA speed bid
Folk present on the salt ahead of Speedweek have reported seeing the 'van' flash by at about 160 mph - Guy is/was looking for 200mph in a Transit.

Not gone well for Guy -

Anyone visiting Leighton hall (off the A6 between Carnforth & Milnthorpe) this Sunday may be unfortunate enough to see me participate in the Hill Climb, on my trusty Triumph Rocket (half of a 'Guy Martin speed attempt' engine). My first attempt at anything competitive & i'll probably be rubbish, but, at my age, I thought I should hurry up & give it a go!

In a roadcar setting your view, Mike, of electric vehicles could be shared by a vast majority, hence we mostly drive i.c. engined vehicles.
However, when a vehicle sets a land speed record average speed, within 60 minutes, of 341.4 mph everyone should look on the endeavour as being meritorious ..... and get excited!
Given the right surface conditions they will surely break through 400 mph and perhaps go faster than 403.1 mph .

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!
When you can buy an electric car that will go from Newcastle to Southampton then back as far as Newport Pagnell on a single charge then be charged in ten minutes and back on its way I'll take an interest but it has to cost no more than any other car and be able to do 150k miles on its original hardware too because that's what my present car can do.
Until then electric cars are just a gimmick.

Plus the carbon offset to make the batteries etc renders the whole thing totally pointless.

Probably a similar argument to that used by proponents of the horse-drawn vehicle when steam power came along, and by proponents of steam power when the internal combustion engine arrived on the scene. The technology is advancing all the time and I'll bet you that Bill's criteria for electric cars will be met within the next decade.Richie wrote:Plus the carbon offset to make the batteries etc renders the whole thing totally pointless.
