It varies across the crash site from east to west between 39m to 41m and also varies depending on the height of the lake due to rainfall, etc.

Morning All :D
Just spotted this little nugget when catching up on the postings this morning!!

"Spotted 'Predator' on her trailer in the boat-park, Bill she needs a wash my man!"

Well if you had given me a shout up the stairs in the newsagents I would have given you a bucket and sponge to go and wash the old girl! I have not been able to keep up the Predator of late as my mother passed away recently. However I always make sure the important jobs of maintenance are still done. And I do not have the heart to go near Donald's Grave at the moment for obvious reasons. The predator was gleaming last year which Malcolm Pittwood can testify to. However even a short period in the boat yard down there can turn a craft slightly GREEEEEEN !! Its the surrounding trees you know :)

"I was woken early on Saturday morning by the sound of over 100 Mk1 and Mk2 Ford RS Escorts roaring through the village in convoy, it turns out there was a ford RS rally round the lakes. It took a good hour for all the cars to pass through. I went in to the Newsagent for a paper and the old lady behind the counter was commenting to someone that there seemed to be an awful lot of 'misfiring' cars going through the village! Ha ha, I had to laugh."

Ah yes our very own Hilda a part of the furniture for the past 30 odd years a very dry and cutting sense of humour she has. Those Ford Rs's nearly got me a ticked going down the M6 on the Friday when i spotted them arriving and not the speed camera van parked on the bridge overlooking the M6 !! They certainly made a row going through the village one hell of a row infact!!! I would say they made more noise than any event that has taken place in the village that i have heard. Probably more than K7 will make when she returns to Coniston but not as sweet :P

Many congratulations to Donald Wales. This weekend has seen Don setting a new world record for a Lawnmowers. Bob Cleveland former holder was on hand to congratulate Donald Wales after he set a new two way average of 86.069 over the measured mile. He is running again today and hoping to reach 100 M.P.H. Gina is on hand giving her support and encouragement. Hopefully he will crack the ton today or at least up the record further. Got to take my hat off to him hurtling along Pendine sands at those speeds sat on a Lawnmower with little protection. The roll cage he had fitted was removed as it was costing them 15 M.P.H in drag!!

Way to go Donald.

I've heard your subaru times that by 100 and I bet there would be little difference but I bet not one of those RS boys needed a computer to fix their cars

Hi all,

We, (the Wife & I), have just been up to visit the Corp in Darlington. It's always a pleasure to see Dot & Paul, but sad to report he is back in hospital again.

If you have a spare moment, please spend that moment thinking about him, he needs all the positive vibes he can get, just to keep going.

Regards to all, Fred

Perhaps I shouldn't think this way but every time I hear of one of the old guard being unwell I remember hammering home to the Hapless Lottery Failure that every day they wasted might be the one day by which someone misses seeing the project complete and I hold them directly responsible for the fact that neither Ken nor Lew got to see their machine back in one piece. Let's hope Paul beats the odds...

I think I've got sunstroke.
I think you've lost the plot!

I went to the Mark Knopfler gig at Newcastle arena last night, that was good, then I've been playing with my barbecue all afternoon in a manly, burger-flipping sort of way. I'd forgotten what it felt like to be chilled...

More last week than the weekend, but our first visit to the Lakes. Pilgrimage to Coniston including a trip on the Gondola, a visit to the Ruskin (hard to believe that immaculate fuel pump was on the bottom of the lake for so long) and several pints of Coniston Bluebird Ale seen off in honour of DMC. Would highly recommend Giotto's Italian restaurant in Windermere.
Came back with acute man-flu though!

Kearsley Airways asked whether they could keep the carbon seals out of that pump because they were better than most components currently flying with the RAF by virtue of having been dormant for 40 years. I said no on the basis that the pumps were museum pieces but Kearsley were overhauling them FOC so I didn't kick up too much fuss. There's something strangely amusing about parts of K7 flying in the skies over Afghanistan and I can't shake the idea that that's probably what's happening.

Last weekend sun, sea and speed with a lawn mower on the sands of Pendine.

Bluebird (Sunbeam version) in the Museum of Speed. Two world record speeds for Guinness to ratify. A totally safe speed record attempt by the project Runningblade" people led by Steve Vokins and managed by Jon Williets. Two very long days because of the tide timings.

Went to Coniston on Saturday 22nd May with wife and younger son. Having collected his new new car earlier that morning from Levens we thought we'd drive over to Coniston and have lunch at The Bluebird Cafe. They seem to be doing a great job considering they're operating out of Portakabins following the flood damage last November. Bought one of Arthur Benjamins's prints and the DVD set that includes "Across the Lake". Too busy to play it yet!

By coincidence I was on business nearby last Wednesday and went again plus a visit to The Ruskin Museum and called by to see progress at The Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow on the day prior to opening. Must get back soon to look around properly. By way of contrast, this Sunday we're off to watch the Cold War Jets at Bruntingthorpe. Looks like a great day on offer including fast taxi runs by the newly arrived Nimrod. Last year, although I wasn't there, the Victor decided it wasn't happy to leave all the glory to Vulcan XH558 and took to the skies as well. Briefly!
