Received this morning, any questions, or comments anyone?
One of the monthly magazines on boating and water topics is suggestinjg that an exemption to the 10 mph speed limit on Windermere is now being sought which would allow the powerboat records week to return there from Coniston Water as early as 2011. Anyone know any more on this?
Reading between the lines I think it's now been realised that paying too much heed to the whiners and moaners resulted in near disaster for Windermere and a spot of back-pedalling may now be in order. Don't expect anything to happen quickly though. As I once wrote, 'bureaucracy moves with all the urgency of tectonic plates...'

The BBP will continue to pursue with the support of the majority the bye law change for Coniston Water where K7 will trial.
Even if Windermere has changed bye laws for a 'Records Week', the BBP will not start asking for a Bluebird bye law over there - we will grow too old to enjoy the moment. Nearly two and a half years for the route we have chosen so far - and we still have quite a few hurdles to get over before blue paint touches the water of the lake.

I still say they'll cock it up and we'll all end up on a reservoir in Wales.

Can't we go somwhere with a bit of heat. Lake Mead still has some water in it and with Las Vegas nearby there are plenty of hotel rooms. And it is a relevant location for the earlier form of K7.
Malcolm, I think Lake Mead is definitely out! what happened last time BB was there? Bill and the boys and girls will have to take their diving gear with them!
Ullswater is a lot closer[ yes I am joking!]
BB IS Coniston and will always be.
I heard the Windermere thing at the last records day when two 'suits' were discussing the 'event.
So long as we get to consume the wine that will provide the corks for the perimeter of the sun hat I guess it would do as an alternative. New Year's Eve 2011 anyone? Malcolm
