Hi Don very kind of you to say those words or praise re the team. I know it will mean a lot to all the lads working on the boat. I wish I could have made it up this weekend however the sudden death of a friend of mine meant i had to go south and see his parents. Hope to catch you again real soon doing some more work on the old boat.
Cheers

This may have been covered before, but if so it's time for a repeat :-)
Some parts of the ribbed floor are a bit 'lacy'. To ensure strength exists, green beams have been fabricated and inserted, inside the original floor.
How are you going to stop water getting between the green beams and the original floor?
Whatever you do, if the lacy remains of the original skin are going to be the (painted) outer surface, what measures are planned to stop the flowing water 'picking' and the many edges and removing her lacy undergarment?

Regards, David.

Ah yes Mike you may have explained that one away, but while at the workshop tonight i noticed large gaps down both sides of the boat.Get out of that one mr smarty pants. Unless you have plans for that she will sink for sure.

You need to give Rob a bit of slack here. He's not yet riveted anything that has to keep the water out (or has 'KWO' status as we refer to it) so he's a little wobbly as the time fast approaches.

Thankyou gents, good solid information laced* with humour.

Not having been involved from the beginning, and thus having to take on a lot of information in a shorter time, I will confess I'd thought of the ribbed plate as forming directional strakes to control the water flow, not as an internal stiffening membrane for a smooth outer skin.
Yes I've seen the pictures of K7 suspended from a crane, but (unconsciously) never in the context of the workshop build.

Hmmm, I wonder how many others have the same 'disconnection'?
Is it worth addressing in some way (How, I don't know), or are all such disconnected people classed as 'bears of very little brain', to be tolerated as such, until we catch up at a time and place of our own choice?

*Can't seem to get away from that word!!

Regards, David.

I'd imagine plenty folk aren't acquainted with the finer points of K7's construction. It's frustrating at times because all most people seem to care about is when the outer skins will go on. Never mind the thorough job on the underlying structure... not to worry.

Sorry about the little micky take earlier David, Glad it was taken in the spirit it was intended, Lucky for you it wasnt in the workshop as Bill is still getting mileage out of some of the daft things we said or done years ago.
Its true what Bill said about the work going on that no one will ever see though. Im a sparky by trade an when i rewire a house all you see at the end is the nice new sockets and light fittings. The week or so i spend working my nuts off to get the cables in and get to that end largely goes un noticed.

It's as well that K7 has miles of internal structure needing a zillion rivets. Rob and Mick will be quite good by the time they have to build something people will get to see...

I've seen the rivet twins work looks good for public viewing now so it will be fantastic when they get to the external skins they might even teach Bill a thing or two
