We considered that but there's just too many variables. The gauges are badly corroded internally to the point where the cases have split so there's not telling what they read when that process began.

Tony once described his tea as 'tangy'. I've never really got over it. It's a real skill, making atrocious tea from basic ingredients time and time again.

hi - just interested to know how many people work on K7 in the wokshop?
Do they have a few days per week to work on K7 or do they have 5 days a week to do this .. ?
Bill, is all the £ for the restoration coming out of your company / and the other companies that have donated their time, skills etc. It seems totally unbelieveable that you havent been given any cash from lottery / or the Government / Museums to undertake such a massive restoration. Its in the publics ineterest that K7 gets restored, after all, Its a National Treasure.
The Bureaucracy must be in a league of its own in this case.
I've not checked to see if i won the Eurolottery last night ( 110 million prizemoney ) but if i have, I'll buy You and the boys a Large Bacon Stottie each and a mug of tea !!!!

We have a solid base of volunteers numbering about fifteen though the usual number in the workshop at any given time is nearer six, eight at the most. We get together on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and I spend the rest of the week on the logistics. Occasionally we'll have one or two on other afternoons but it's usual that we're waiting for something. We need to have some parts and services sub-contracted like painting and certain metal bending op's that we don't have the equipment to handle. We have to order and pay for consumables, sanding belts and discs, etc. Then there's the admin of the shop, the politics and the bureaucracy. Don't forget that we're trying to have the law changed and if you listen to Radio 4 later today you'll probably hear me on there talking about it so there's the press officer thing to do too. It's a full time job.
Don't go there with the lottery - the ones we had to deal with were mostly idiots and the longer this goes the more apparent that becomes but sacking them was the best thing we did because now we're independent. My company donates the workshops, phones and electricity, the other sponsors supply materials and services and the day to day running is paid for by you good people out there who buy DVDs and other merchandise. No one receives so much as a penny in wages or other benefits so everything that comes in goes into the boat (and if there's a volunteer accountant out there who'd like to come and do our books please get in touch before we're buried in receipts) but even last month's bill for rivets was over 1K. That's a lot of tee shirts at a couple of quid profit on each. In fact we don't even take our teabag and biscuit budget out of the BBP account and have to buy our own so anyone wanting to donate goodies for teatime is welcome to send them over where they'll be gratefully received.

Mike - I do my best to keep you going but you have to admit that the tea consumption in gallons per rivet is a challenge for any budget or 2000W kettle for that matter- can you last until next Saturday when I will bring more?

Being the only smoker on the team While they have thier galon of tea i am outside in the elements having a ciggie so if were donating a brolly and a couple of packs of baccy wouldn't go a miss

As this was preinstalled when I set up the forum and in american not English I have now deleted MOST words and will be adding baned words as people start using them but knowing you fine people I'll have an easy time with this but at least you can now type fags for ciggies etc
