Saw a little bit of the last flight on the live stream, when it worked, and thought it a rather pointless, grey and sad event. They went to great lengths to deliberately 'prevent people from attending'- and that's in their own words now by the way- and then even the live stream was cocked up. :(

The fourth and final episode of 'Britain's Ultimate Pilots' was pretty good again- the script was still a bit OTT but the narrator seemed to have settled down a bit, or at least gargled with something soothing, and I chuckled when a stuck shut Typhoon canopy was freed by a well-placed thump! Everyone's reaction to the news filtering through from Shoreham was quite sobering, and it was nice to see the dedication at the end.

Not perfect for the reasons I've already mentioned many times, but still the best airshow/aircraft series that's been on a main channel for a long time.

Vulcan barrel Roll?

Footage looks suspect, but I hope it's genuine 8-)

The wider media were a bit slow on this one- the 'footage' has been discussed to death on the aviation forums for the last week already, and not everyone is convinced by it.

Hopefully this will simply result in a rap on the knuckles, if a rule is deemed to have been broken.

The last thing the VST needs is a hefty fine.

On a happier note, this is an excellent 9 minute piece by the BBC, covering the final flight and the Vulcan's history- including a certain very definite roll...

Good to see Vulcan flight-tester Tony Blackman feature so strongly in that clip.

Since we're lightening the mood, I'll mention a test flight Blackman once did in an HS 748 for a wealthy client who was a prospective buyer. The flight was from Hatfield and the client was Howard Hughes, a man known for his eccentricity. Blackman says Hughes piloted, and did the entire flight dressed in nought but his trademark fedora hat.

Vulcan To The Sky are in talks with The People's Mosquito about helping them with their plans.
