Very evocative photo'.

Hawkeyes may have noticed the damage to the inner rear boom on the port side. Arthur Knowles in his book alludes to a collision with a bird/debris. Leo Villa was apparently unconcerned by it as it was superficial damage to the skin rather than the core structure.

Plus of course, there was a great big dent right across the port front spar too by her last days- clearly visible in the stills of her lifting off the surface on the 4th, etc.

Poor old thing was really in the wars, and that was before she hit the water and gave herself a nosebleed! :(

Yes, I reckon that's one of a few of the photos from 66/67 that, if some quiet and space(!) could be found in the media scrum, could do with recreating in 2010...anyone know a DMC lookalike?

Nice profile shot of the canopy in that one of DMC stood in the cockpit...should anyone around here need a profile of the canopy, of course... ;)
