Yes, a few pic's of the rather forlorn seat were taken, later used by Mike and his then helper to prefectly reproduce the seat. Seems an age ago!

So these grainy newspaper images helped you guys a lot? How did you decide where to start on K7?

Re: Bluebird Archive Photos & Films
Not all archive pictures are grainy- far from it in fact. Some of them are glorious high resolution, both in colour and black and white, and the photo archive overall- those pics in the public domain, or held by collectors, or those in books etc- have been a vast help throughout the whole rebuild. The boat was endlessly photographed through it's life, though it still often turns out that the perfect picture of a certain part will have someone stood in front of it, and so on- so having just the right image is part of the battle, and then interpreting them is another matter again, but I think that's a sport Bill and I in particular rather enjoy!

Re: Looking Back In Time- Archive Bluebird Photos
Neil, in your book you show a picture of DMC piloting a water vespa, you have probably been told this before that it is actually a Lambretta j125 starstream, not an easy observation to be honest. On a positive note its a great book and i love reading all the facts and figures.sheppane wrote:0155457.jpgDuring the long drawn out 66/67 attempt, DMC also went for the world waterborne scooter record... here is Don returning to the jetty after the unsuccessful attempt. The scooter ran out of fuel on the way to the measured Kilo... and Louis Goosens had to rush to the rescue to refuel the craft... after that conditions were never the same again, and DMC returned to the WSR to drum up support for a future attempt.... (PS. This message is a day and a half late)

Thanks for letting me know. I will make that amendment should we ever do another reprint.

Re: Bluebird Archive Photos & Films
Got this on the guestbook from a lady in Syracuse, NY, USA. Anyone clear this up and I'll mail her back.
I recently transferred some slides to digital from photos my father-in-law took in the Spring of 1958 of the Bluebird K7. I did some research and am fascinated by the historical significance and the story of Donald Campbell. Unfortunately, I do not know where these photos were taken and have spent hours online trying to find any clue as to the Bluebird's location at that time. So far, I have not seen a single photo or reference to anything resembling the point of view in which the photos were taken. I am looking to authenticate the photos and will be happy to share them once I can place the Bluebird and my father-in-law in the same place sometime in the spring of 1958. I appreciate any assistance.
