Spot on Bill. I worked on a doco' about the Great Train Robbery, and spent time with Bruce Reynolds (and his son Nick). He was meticulous about his planning, but said, it was only when then got to the farm, and counted and stacked all the money, that he realised he had no idea what to do next! He wasn't prepared for the shear amout of money, and the space it took up, nor had anyone got a plan as to where to go and what to do with it, which he attributes to them all (well apart from two) being caught so quickly. And they were "proper" criminals!!

All very true, I'm sure, but I can see the way it's going ...

Wouldn't be me breaking in, unless there was a Tyrrell 006, Lotus 91 or any other proper F1 car, or maybe a GT40 or a Porsche 917, then it might be worth the risk!!

I'll be an accomplice, Steve. Count me in! :D

Add a Lotus 49, Lotus 72 or any of the Chaparral Can-Am cars to that list.

Mind, we'll have to disguise them as Reliant Robins to get away with it.

There's still an appreciable risk that the FAAM will manage to knacker their own project. Is there something extinct we could resurrect from the motorsport world?

That's a neat idea. I suggest you put that offer out into the wider car-restoration world and see what responses come back (if, that is, the Barracuda project falls through).

I bet there'll be some hopeless car project out there that just needs what you can bring to the party to make it a feasible proposition. You could bring something back from the stone-dead and make it breathe fire again.

The main difficulty, I suspect, will be ownership. If I were you, I'd pick something that you can actually acquire. It's yours, then, as a group, and you can do the job just as you like, with no risk of interference - or worse.

I always fancied a Merc' Gullwing but they're fanatical about protecting that design. Can't say I blame them, mind you.

Well from general motorsport, probably not, I know of a brand new, never put together, still wrapped in the wax paper, McLaren M23, but then again, there's 13 of those any way. So I would say, THE one to do would be

THUNDERBOLT!!!!

Hadn't seen that car before. It's not the prettiest thing ever built, is it.
