Couldn't find an entry on this anywhere, yet I am certain I read it!
Was the original radio ever recovered? I know you have probably sourced the exact replacement, as the "Corp" would have known exactly what he installed, but I just wondered if anything of the original survived?

Yes, I can imagine someone decided to blot out a bit of green in the cockpit!!!

There's also a list of stuff that was recovered that we've never got to the bottom of. The steering linkage from the cockpit was recovered, for example, and I have a copy of a letter written by John Futcher to Leo asking if the divers could keep some recovered items as 'trophies'. Leo replied that they were not his to give away so I'd bet the divers just nicked them anyway. The nose badge and the instrument panel would make nice pieces. John is in the process of recording his memoirs for me and we're at about 1961 so he may recall a little more of the Coniston job as we go.
