Some wonderful little insights there Novie, thank you for sharing. I always thought those eyes didn't look like Mr Hopkin's; now I know why. :D :D

Re Roger Mallinson, he used to keep (probably still does keep) a stunningly beautiful vintage steamboat in the wet berths at Wray Castle's boathouse on Windermere. I believe it's the only closed and secure boathouse on the lake capable of taking his boat. About 20 years ago, he was kind enough to show me all round his pride and joy and I gathered he was a bit of a character.

This Campbell trivia thing must be catching ...

I spotted the chap who plays Leo Villa in Across The Lake in an episode of The Avengers tonight.

Roger is also famous for being trapped in the Pisces 3 submersible at a depth of 480m with the ensuing highly publicised rescue! He and Chapman were pulled from Pisces after 84 1/2hrs and had a calculated 12 minutes of air left! Luckily Roger had put an extra oxygen tank onboard the day before otherwise....... :o :o

Here's a first... One of Polo's amazing fantasies seems to contain a grain of truth!

Roger C is a thoroughly nice chap and owned Rumic limited which maintained the Royal Navy's LR5 rescue submersible.
