Thanks for your offer, but no thanks. I do not believe that Coniston is K7's "spiritual home" either, as it was the scene of her greatest tragedy. I prefer to think that her "spiritual home" is were K7 and DMC's greatest triumph was. I also don't want to see a living piece of history shoved in a museum, dead. Given the fact that Bill and the BBP as a collective have lived and breathed K7 for the past 17 years of their lives, do you not think it is understandable that they want to keep her running for three months of the year?

Also, if you'd like your petition to be taken seriously (other than by a few Consiston locals), you might see fit to delete the petulant personal attacks against Bill from your petition. Getting personal is extremely unprofessional, and is only used as a tactic when there isn't a valid argument to be made. By contrast Robert's petition (which I, and many others from around the world have signed), is pretty simple in it's aim: we only want the museum to allow the BBP access to K7, so that she is taken out to run, and kept in tip-top condition. It is appealing to the Ruskin for common sense, and for fairness. It isn't attacking them, as the spiel in your petition does Bill.

Fair is fair. The BBP have done all the work so far, and that includes sourcing donations of materials and money to bring K7 back from the dead. It hasn't cost the Ruskin a penny, nor any of their time. Surely allowing the BBP the three months of summer every year for maintenance, and allow her the chance to fly isn't too much to ask? Surely the BBP deserve that courtesy at the very least for all the hard graft they have put in.

You might want to remind others around here of that fact... you know, the ones who invented the term 'Type 3' for that specific purpose?

The British Courts were called in to the battle over the ownership claim made by Paul Foulkes-Halbard, the late owner of Filching Manor Motor Museum, East Sussex. I took little interest in Bluebird K7 matters back then, but the Court decided the following (well according to a news paper they did).

"A consent order lodged at the High Court in London today, declared Tonia Bern-Campbell and the executors of Campbell's will as the rightful owners. Mrs Bern-Campbell has now arranged for the boat to be transferred to the Campbell Heritage Trust, which was set up to commemorate her husband's achievements and those of his father, the late Sir Malcolm Campbell, who died in 1949". Surely the Court would have seen the terms of the Will?

I have an authorised copy of DC's will obtained from the national probate office. Seems clear to me why the court decided what it did. I see no problem with the deed of gift. The only document that matters is that which Bill Smith and the Ruskin trustees signed in 2006.
Signatures clear on both. No other document of any relevance exists changing that agreement, end of. The endless protestations about something that was never signed up to in 2013 will amount to zero.


BTW It costs £10 to get a copy of a will.

Do you have a copy of any of the verbal agreements?

Not verbal, agreed in writing and in conduct...

It is VERY well understood that a contract does NOT require a signature. Simples...

I stand corrected, and thanks for that info, Malcolm. I was quite unaware of it. The will is something I have only recently stumbed across, and the info of DMC leaving K7 to Leo Villa, certainly was an eye-opener. If the courts have ruled otherwise, that is fine and I retract that part of my post. Thanks again.
