If this is the case, perhaps the BBP should do a bells and whistles super-duper version of it's own with a few extra features etc and sell it too- at least the money would go to a better cause than some opportunist pirate's pocket!

Then you know what would happen Mike?-someone remaining hidden for years would come shooting out of the woodwork at warp 10 and start screaming for royalties!-I was actually trying to find the owner with a view to purchasing the copyright for the movie and doing it right, and got precisely nowhere-think there may be an issue here and without sounding like a conspiracy theorist, and quoting our glorious leader-"best leave well alone" seems to be wise with this one-the BBP ending up in court for royalty breach would have the type 3's whooping and hollering!-unless the actual copyright holder comes forth and donates the copyright to us-- :D

Now I watched ATL when it was shown on TV in 88 and that’s the only time I've ever seen it. Apart from the clips with Bluebird going up and down (or perhaps across) the lake the only other scenes I can remember is.................

Richard Nixon asking some chap to pay his taxes then when he wouldn’t he didn’t involve him in the Watergate scandal.
Hannibal Lector chatting up some bird at a garage so he didn't have to pay for his Chianti
Burt (Bert) Munro getting a telling off from Leo for the Christmas runs, sumat about nobody about to tell him when it was safe to return and no offerings to the gods of speed.
Adolf Hitler Telling Leo that ballast at the rear of a previous boat only worked because it was prop driven and a different concept and it was kept in some bunker.
Abraham Van Helsing Being upset with some journalists some times except one who he was sleeping with I think, whilst looking for some bats of some type.

Not even sure if the above is correct it was 23 years ago but non the less I absolutely loved it and was intrigued by this beautiful blue boat. So I've just looked at a clip on you tube pretty much the opening scenes I think where Anthony Campbell drives a bit gets out is cold despite it being spring time when the stuff portrayed happened (I think)then goes to the sun for some sausages.

Now I know its notoriously hard to get an original copy and people have to resort to bootleg editions but I can't even find one of them. So in a vain hope that I can get it another way I tried the file sharing approach no joy there either. So if anyone can help me point me in the right direction it would be wonderful. I think it was released in Australia so is this the route to go down but if so how do I go on with the region code on the DVD.

Now as its a sensitive copyright issue perhaps its safest if all help is sent via PM. Please if anyone can help I'd love to see it again if only for the happy memories of watching it as a child with my family and me old chap telling all about it afterwards.

*EDIT* just wrote all this then found a VHS copy and a DVD rip on flea bay so may go down that route. But my nipper has managed to get my pay pal account froze by selling stuff then lying in bed not bothering to post it for a fortnight. So if they still have copies by time I find a pal to get me one I'll grab it.

But playing a poor hand well.
Sorry for the poor spelling in my posts my friends and family marvel at how someone reasonably educated can be so poor at spelling

I suggest you get yourself the £5 buy it now version, available on ebay as we speak. Quick before Mr Bull manages to get that one withdrawn too.....

"There is a section of copyright law known as ‘The Berne Act.’ It clearly states: “films unreleased in the United Kingdom and United States, including
original version of films altered and/or edited for release therein, are not protected by copyright; thus, they are considered public domain.” This DVD is within the public domain and complies fully with all ebay rulings regarding recordable media.Ebay have checked and verified this."

The above is a quote from his advert for his DVD, he's made it very clear that it's a copy, and obviously ebay have checked everything out to be OK, So what's the problem? Who exactly is he hurting?

If you're waiting to find an original DVD, don't, because it's never been released as such. However, you can buy (again, on ebay) an original VHS copy! While buying the VHS copy, I would suggest you also buy a 'flux capacitor' and transport yourself back to the 80's so you can sit and watch it courtesy of the VHS video player complete with cable-operated remote control......ha ha.

If everyone was to play exactly by the rules and regulations of this world, nothing would ever get done and we'd still be pulling women by their hair around caves. My view.

Out and out lies. The copyright holder(s), should they surface, could take the guy to the cleaners.

eBay check nothing unless its reported for some reason.

Please do not link to copied material. You are right Across the Lake has never been officially released but there are a number of copies floating around taped off the TV and transferred to DVD.
