I'm no expert but I thought the Interceptor rand from 1966–76, just ten years and about 6,000 produced? I know Ginger Baker loved them, and tried to drive one across a desert once, but it couldn't do it, so he left it there!

Your right Neil, I'm thinking of the 190 with the removable hard top, never been a big fan of Mercs!

Quite right about the Interceptor production although the company carried on making cars to order after 76 under the Official Receiver! There was an earlier Interceptor in the 50's as below in hardtop and cabriolet. Photos of Ginger Baker being reunited with one of his FF's can be seen here http://www.rockstarscars.co.uk/ginger.htm, Kieron who is writing a book and runs that website might be able to shed more light on the desert story.

From a rebuild that car went to Switzerland then Holland and home with minimal problems considering the mileage and work involved in the restoration. Sound familiar? :D

Funny you should say that, I always think of the Cybermen from Dr Who! It's the 50th aniversary of the CV8 this weekend, I will take a better photo of the blue CV8 just for you.
