A groat is currency, surely? Now a firkin, there's a measurement!!!


We have a measurement based on the distance between a certain kings shoulder and the finger tip of his outstretched arm (the yard and Henry VIII) and a railway gauge based based on the width of a horses arse (the distance of early tracks being just wide enough to get a horse to be able to walk between the tracks and tow a wagon), so I am all for the smoot, the "tad" and the "gnats tadger"........................(57 year old teenager)

In the Aerospace Industry; Tad(ge) micro-tadge and nano-tadge are recognised metrics.

Engineering also defines special factors, such as the IFF or Infinitesimal Fudge Factor. This is not a constant, but a variable quantity which, when added to an otherwise incorrect measurement or quantity, provides the necessary correction.

There's a phenomenon in aerospace called 'magic muck' where a valve or control module or whatever behaves as though contaminated inside but when it's opened up nothing can be found and when reassembled it all works again.

You have got my grey matter going now.......

boat came up 2001 ? Think Mike became full time project involved early 2009... call it January for sake of ease....I arrived November that year.

had you attended every Saturday 2001 - 2009 and put in 8.5 hours (like we do now....minimum)...roughly speaking (and i mean rough)

think we are around the 3978 hour mark.... give or take.

we know Mike attended before 09 but will write that off for ease. he has done about 3094 hours.....

but that's just Saturdays, if you then factor the other two days he spends at shop you need to add a further 3640 hours onto his count.....then you need to factor the countless hours he has spent researching at home.......its building...

its all neither here nor there as both of you guys have most likely done less than Bill and John who were there constantly from the gun going off.


now perhaps folk need to take heed how much hours have been quoted.... that's for just two people involved..... granted those figures are very fast maths and hold little accuracy..

if you were to put a minimum wage to those figures, i would shudder to think the cost !
