Oh, and that comment about Romans and Gambesons - I am referring to what I have been told (by someone who I don't trust quite as much as most of my sources) about LATE Romans, earlier they just wore a linen shirt below the mail. Troops in warm climates also didn't wear Gambesons - they were just to hot.

The BBC News website caught my eye this morning, reporting: "In 2015 a French court prevented a couple from naming their baby girl Nutella after the hazelnut spread, ruling that it would make her a laughing stock."

Surely to God, it would only be a laughing stock if they'd named it Oxo.

I'll get me coat ...

Surely Nigel, you only get a laughing stock if you boil a clown...

Went to Coniston today and made my first presentation in four years, for the SRC.

It started out as a bit of a favour for some good mates then I got into writing my Powerpoint last night and today I had a great time presenting and larking about for about two hours with a great bunch of familiar faces - thanks to Paul, Novie and Sir Malcolm for dragging me out, and to everyone else who sat through my nonsense and appeared to enjoy it - appreciated.
Went to see Robbie too for a catch up on the arrangements to get K7 back on Coniston Water. He and his buddies are plugging away in the right direction.
There's a smear of weapons-grade f**kwittery from the LDNPA, but it's at jobsworth level to be to be wiped away soon as those above get a handle on their underling's failings, so all is good.
We're also forming our plans for this year's crew training mission. I'm away again tomorrow and Tues in meetings to give that some extra shape so I'll be able to tell a little more by later in the week.
It's beginning to come together, folks. Wish us luck...

Hi, I have been lurking about looking at the website for several years now. Wish I lived a lot nearer so I could help out (young Tom is down my way). However I have a little project that is taking my time up.. Nowhere near as impressive as K7, but still a challenge.

Looks like the hot end of an Adour 104 to me.
Tell me it's going to fly.

Alas Bill, it will only trundle on the ground, 100 knts no more. Hopefully we will have the fuel through the burners before the summer. All the guys that work on her have 50 odd mile drives to get to her and shifts that do not tie up. Not a patch on K7 of course.
