Hi Antoine,

Mike's right, I can supply drawings for you, they go back to 56/57 although they do come with a few photo's to help update them. As to K7's colour, you won't really believe this but I assure you that it is TRUE.

Sometime around 1997/8'ish, I went to Homebase (still part of Sainsbury's then) with a flake of paint given to me by Leo Villa in Mar/Apr 1967, and which had come from his pot of touch-up paint. I had asked him for a sample of Bluebird's paint, so that I could get my model right, he just stuck a screwdriver into the pot, and said "Is that enough". Dear old 'Leo', that was the one and only time I ever met him, but it was in the shed where Jetstar was being worked on, at Burgess Hill. Now to get back to your colour sorry about that little deture. Homebase scanned the little flake of paint, and came up with,

Luna Landscape 2 DULUX BG 20/241

For those that think they've just been given a Holy Grail paint code for the boat, have a look at what that colour actually looks like...

Well, something is sure : it will be very difficult not to say impossible for me to choose a color using a computer screen. I will have to perform several tests before catching the "right" one.
Another thing that is evident, I feel very lucky to have found you. The expertise of many members of this forum is simply priceless.

Hi All,
I didn't say it would please the 'Experts', I just gave the results of the scan. Mine you, Ken and Leo seemed well pleased with the result in 1967. But there again, it's 'ONLY THEIR' opinion.

Regards to all, Fred

I'll tell you what... that colour isn't a million miles away. It's not spot on, but it'll do.

I'm still laughing at Damien's brilliant picture!

Antoine is right, we'll all be looking at something ever so slightly different on our monitors depending on their settings, though the Dulux shade is way off the 66/67 colour by some way. Here it is placed on a blue which is much nearer to the 66/67 shade-

blues.jpg

It's not unlike one of the much earlier shades that we found under the many layers on the boat though and as Bill says, it'll do!

(EDIT- following our subsequent posting of the correct paint code on here, I can add that the colour above is in fact the correct 66/67 RAL 5009.)

Why not scan an example of each shade from each layer, have a tin of each mixed then pour them all into a big pot and mix them all together - if that wouldn't give you a shade you could call "Bluebird Blue", I don't know what would!
