Bluebird Models

The colour looks fine to me, but then it usually does on models, no matter what shade was used! All blues lead to Rome...and besides, we gave you the paint code so you've got no excuse now!

Such a shame about the nose (and other problems) on that kit, I'd quite fancy a K7 in that scale but have had enough of correcting kit manufacturer's errors to last me a lifetime! (Speedline K7 and CN7)

Good job, Damien. :D

Having spent the morning struggling with my Speedline K7, I have to say that I am happy that the rebuild of the real thing has confirmed that she was built lopsided.

At least mine is going to be accurate in one repect, then.

Do any of you modellers out there know where I can get a 1/24 scale jet pilot figure,(complete with bonedome) to masquerade as DMC?

I know you can get 1/24 scale racing drivers/mechanics, which may be adaptable? The only 1/24 pilots that come to mind come with the big Airfix kits, and are of course depicting the WW2 era; 1/24 isn't a common scale for aviation, but is very common for automotive models. I used some Tamiya pit crew figures once to make some Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight ground crew for a 1/24 scale Hurricane diorama-

Funnily enough, the driver that came with that set was going to made into a little Donald on a plinth, but I never finished him!

Hi there,

I've just joined the forum after Mike B posting an a Bluebird thread on a modelling forum I frequent. I'm just to start building a Touchwood 1/12th kit but as a static model rather than R/C so hoping to get some extra detail and information, Mike has already pointed out the short comings in the cockpit and no doubt there will be other areas as I go along.

I've had a quick look through the thread here and didn't find anything about the 1/43rd scale K7 that Stuart at Touchwood produces, having built it it is a lovely kit, can't access photobucket at work so will post a couple of shots this evening. Also it is close to 1/48th scale which is a common aircraft scale so a pilot figure may be easier to come across. There are also a few manufactures of 1/43rd figures as it is a common scale for F1 cars as well as being the scale used for O gauge model railways. The kit opens up a whole world of diorama possibilities as it can be built into one of 7 version of K7.

Pictures later.

Cheers,

Warren

That's a nice little model for the scale, though the cockpit opening, intakes and nose are all wrong at a quick glance. Every K7 model in every scale has so far been wrong- I wonder if we'll one day get a truly accurate kit?

Looking forward to more build progress pics. 8-)

Might be worth the BBP getting the 'real thing' mapped using the latest laser surface technology, then any model producer can apply for the details to ensure that, whatever scale build in the future, the shape is correct. Licensing might pay for a few of the rivets.
