I can supply K7 Plans, as drawn-up for Ken Norris by Richard Corrigan. Ken gave me permission to scan them and reproduce them on CD.

Cost in the U.K. is £5.50 plus £1 P&P, and can be posted off by return mail.

Kindest regards, Fred

Hi Fred,
I am Richard Corrigan's son. We are not in touch much anymore but I would love to have the plans for K7. I have a vivid memory of him at the drawing board when I was young and he was working for ITT Creed in Brighton. Thanks in advance Mike

Worry not, rivet detail is easy to add with a tiny spot of PVA applied off the tip of a tiny needle or pin. Superglue even works providing it is thick and you are careful..........

A model builder never forgets or regrets, only learns :)

Hello to everyone.

Im new to the forum and with always having had a great interest in the Campbells world speed record attempts on land and water, Im pleased to have found this site. As a model maker I have been reading this thread with great interest. like a lot of other enthusiasts I would like to see a 1/35 plastic injected model of DCs K7 BB and after suggesting this to Airfix, this is the reply I got back.

Thank you for your email. I do apologise for the delay in responding. I have passed the suggestion on, which will be added to a list of suggestions that our Marketing team consider when planning new releases. New ranges are only released at the start of each year and you would have to check if your suggestion features.

Please bear in mind that suggestions will only be produced if there has been a large amount of collectors requesting them.

Kind Regards,

Sophie Dye

I would like to appeal to as many members/enthusiasts as possible to e-mail customercare@hornby.com with the request to have this model produced.

Cheers.

Paul.

Good suggestion - my only thought would be that Airfix doesn't really 'do' 1/35 for vehicles so 1/32 would be more likely to fit in with the company's existing range (not that there are many, or any boats).

I think you need to look at scale in terms of the inevitable price of the finished kit. 1:32 will be detailed but expensive (to the extent that sales are likely to be low). Airfix might well consider making a smaller scale model as it would drop the price into "It's a bit different, an interesting model and not too expensive, I'll have one" territory as opposed to only selling to serious enthusiasts.

At least with K7 you won't have the problem with things like the Hobby Boss Karl-Gerat kit. Had it been made in 1:87 scale with its associated rail transport kit I bet loads would have sold to model railway people. As it is they offered it in 1:72. It matches other military vehicle kits but I'd have liked a HO scale model.

1/48 then? The 1/72 Record Models kits seem really small.

I'd go for 1:50, 1:48 or 1:43. These seem popular scales with model vehicle manufacturers which would help should you want to build a diorama with DMC's E-type or any of the other vehicles used in support of K7.

There's a thought - what was used to transport K7 and do Corgi offer it in 1:50 scale? Could make for an interesting addition to their Heavy Haulage range...

Certainly seems a sensible suggestion........

To allay fears of "poor Sales" they could also make it a "Numbered limited Edition" (shudders at suggesting it given it could hike the price up!)

Hi All, This goes way back to 2009 and a post about a chap called David Gosling. He was running a project called Blue Star which intended to build an LSR car of the same name. As you may know David was killed in a road accident. What I can tell you is, another team inherited the mock-up of Blue Star and held it for a number of years, although not many. Like Blue Star, the other teams project came to an end but due to finances fortunately and not a death. The team ran the cars called The Blonde Bombshell, because of the propellant that was used to power the cars. One of David's team also joined the BB squad. Almost to the point of the post now, In the early nineties I saw the Blue Star mock-up at Donington Park on top of the old bridge; does any body know how Donington got hold of the car and whether any other parts of the BB team were obtained along with it. I realise it's long ago now, but I live in hope the last BB car is not in a land fill somewhere. The post in 2009 wrote that Blue Star still sat at Donington, I wonder if it still does. If anyone can offer help to my questions, I would be most appreciative.
