Completion Date

For those who take an interest in timelines, the word is that this informal and then formal consulatation followed by DEFRA time periods could mean another six months before the revised notice gets nailed to that post near the lake shore.

Six months, my bottom! For those who take an interest in timelines please note that bureaucracy promises one thing then seamlessly adds a year before coming back to ask what the question was again...

The next round of informal consultation is now open at the LDNPA website. Bill posted the link in an earlier mailing (26th January) under this topic.

Take time to read Bill's amended posting as well.

To avoid totally any criticism that the BBP would wish to obstruct free speech (however poorly annunciated perhaps) we have removed the comments pertaining to an individual who took part in the previous LDNPA procedure - although perhaps the name is not his correct title, but its the one we were told was used.

Remember to complete only one web-based or hard copy return to the LDNPA (not more than one and not both). If there are contacts of yours who feel strongly about the BBP project and the goals set by our Director please point them in the direction of the latest LDNPA consultation on the bye law.

Thanks, Malcolm

I did enjoy the irony in free speech being compromised in the interests of free speech but, of course, that's not quite how it goes. Back in the HLF days a couple of individuals bugged the life out of the lottery-flops wanting copies of this document and that report, most of which contained commercially-sensitive information that may have adversely affected the tendering process so before anything could be released it had to pass under the noses of, and be signed off by about a dozen individuals and organisations. All this achieved - because it served no worthwhile agenda - was to make work for everyone and breed a deep dislike of the nuisances in all concerned.
The nuisances, meanwhile, read their flowery letters from the lottery-flops and never realised that they were regarded by both camps as a monumental pain in the arse.

Alain, thought it might be a good idea to put a large counter on the menu page to show how many times people ask for the completion / running date  .
ps I'm not nominating myself to count the past requests in the guest book though ;)

Instead of counting numbers ........... lets make it a rule here and on the guestbook that each request for knowledge of the date comes with a donation of £5 to the BBP. Or open a book on 'pick a date' ? Will add some excitement to the coming year.

I've often joked about that in the workshop Sir Malcolm- that visitors who ask the 'when...?' question should have to pay to get back out! We should seriously implement that I reckon- I volunteer to knock up a donations tin!

why do people continue to ask you for a completion date? if there was a definitive date available do they not think it would be announced on the forum with all available bells and whistles!!!!

Can't we just shoot them instead?

But seriously - when we have a date we'll be shouting it from the rooftops. We'll make sure it's all over the media - or rather our media partner will and they're talking about an audience of 80,000,000 viewers and fair distribution to all the news networks. No one is going to miss it!
