Bill, if you ever want to get your own back, I'll teach you the secret of my infamous 'projectile farting' technique - usually good for a range of 12-15 feet indoors. 8-)

I'd also like to add that unless anyone has actually physically lost their lunch as a result of a gasseous emission, you're all a bunch of amateurs! :D

OK, I promise not to follow through with any more comments on the subject.

On it's own, the current pic is pretty damn impressive. When you pause to remember what you started with and that the last time we saw someone with their head stuck in the back of the complete structure it was upside down, being dismantled and looked like it had just gone 13 rounds with a bulldozer, it's nothing short of mind-blowing!

There's another thing that you just don't get from a pic and that's how incredibly strong it is. It feels like it's cast from reinforced concrete though it weighs as much as an egg box but having it there in the flesh brings it home just how much force would be needed to rip it open like it was.

Some detailing on top of the air intakes. In the foreground, a long redundant base for the radio antenna then ahead of that is the flap for the fuel filler. There's many hours of work in each one.

Certainly is...the fuel filler flap itself wasn't so bad, though it's yet to receive a hinge and it's three Dzus fasteners. The hard part with that was exactly copying it's shape and location over from the original outer skin to the new one- something made all the harder by K7's steadfast refusal to ever have one common centreline and the fact that, surprise surprise, the opening for the original flap wasn't at all symmetrical.

Not visible in the POTD shot is the fact that the lip underneath which the flap rests on is actually the original, recovered from the devastated original outer skin.

Mikes work should be highly commended the ducts really are a work of art, you don't get that from the pics..... On the team section of the site they should change his image to a waist belt and trousers as for the last few months that's all we have seen of Mike :)

Richie is absolutely right - the intakes ARE a work of art - when it comes to attention to detail, Mike is unsurpassed.

mind...like Bill before him, the "Duct" has issues working around it.... vocabulary changes, i think it comes with the solitude, you often hear phrases like

"For Duct's sake"

"Oh Duct"

"This ducting duct is getting on my ducting whick"

"Oh duct off"

"well it was totally duct when we started but look at it now"

quite a comprehensive list if i was to go on :D

Tis true enough... The actual duct is a single fabrication of very thin but tough material; it took weeks and had me around the ducting bend!
Worth it though when you see the finished result and much credit to Mike for his hard work and attention to the detailing - and his lavish expenditure on the world's most expensive rivets.
