The button on the left hand side that is pushed twice in ATL would actually be on the fire panel for real! You can't pay any attention to that under-scale Mickey Mouse cockpit with it's Mini steering wheel!

So the double push that Antony Hopkins gave the replica to start in that bloody movie is Kosher then?one to prime the system then one to spin the engine?

The start system is very primitive in that sense. Push the button and air howls down the pipe to spin the start-turbine. It whistles up to 50,000rpm quick as you like taking the Orph' spool along for the ride to 2000 or thereabouts where you then add fuel and fire. I've no idea what Tony Hopkins was doing pushing buttons on his fire panel.

... or what he was doing in bed with the girl from the garage, or driving the E-type with the DC7 number plate.... Lighten up, chaps; its called artistic licence!

No, it's called poor research; not that I'd expect a 100% accurate cockpit for the few brief scenes you see it, but, they had all the same references available as we do- if they had bothered to use them properly.

I thought the cockpit was OK for telly purposes though it wouldn't stand close scrutiny but they could've researched that blonde creature into my bedroom any time they liked.
