Tribute Act

Would that be a Type III 'bucktoothed village idiot' then..? Speaking of which, I wonder if there's a 'group opposed to the running of K777 on Coniston'?

I'd find it all funny too if it wasn't for things like the Mirror piece today- such a thing was inevitable, and that damage is now done, thanks to some lazy arse journalism.

Our Novie and Paul are there on the scene, hopefully they'll help to keep people straight on things.

Its amazing that the Mirror could get it so wrong, with the slightest bit of research they would have realised it should have been "Bluebird is back.THANKS TO ROB"
morons only had to ask the Echo.

Do you mean the one on the replica,
or the one on the little b/w picture 'on lake in 1967' at the top of the page? :?

The tribute act will need to be one serious bit of kit and be driven by a similarly courageous character if they mean to challenge for the outright British record, which is indeed still held by Donald Campbell, at 276.34mph! :)

Wonder if Anthony Hopkins has been offered the drive...

Some endeavour with it's own identity could take the British record one day, but a half-arsed pseudo-Bluebird that's already been rejected by his family removing Donald's last standing record from the books would be an utter, utter insult.

Jim Noone is driving, by the way.

It has to be said that, although mechanically it looks the business, politically it's a disaster zone. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see how demeaning it is to the Campbell legend.

Fine by me though... as predicted, our shop is busy. :D

Some details here, including the somewhat surprising revelation that part of their plans are to help us...

http://www.cumbriacrack.com/2011/10/31/coniston-power-boat-records-week-gets-underway-k777-is-launched/

With the thing obviously being as much fibreglass as it is metal, what data on earth do they possibly think would be even remotely comparable to Bluebird?!
