Hi y'all !

I'm Lee, been following the project online for a couple of years now, and have finally taken the plunge and "outed" myself, although the missus is not happy about it, as a BBP fan. Have to say thankyou to everyone on the team - the diary posts and pics are great, but the sheer enthusiasm & passion that comes over is wonderful !

Not asking the inevitable question - 'cos when it's ready it's ready, and we'll be taking a few sick days off work to travel from the Black Country to support & buy beers for the team !

Hi Everyone,

Longtime New Zealand lurker here, I have been following for a few years and I must say I am incredibly impressed with what you guys are doing with some very bent scrap. I never would have thought it possible to use just about all of those mangled bits scoured off the lake bottom. Talk about a paradigm shift  I don't think I will ever look at bent metal in the same way again. :D

I can still remember seeing a video documentary of the bluebird crash as a young child 20 odd years ago. I think the finality of hitting the lake at high speed being unsurvivable cemented it into my mind. To think that soon the boat will again be alive and kicking is heartening.

Half a world away I have a small metal project on the go but it starts with new tin and on CNC equipment. Although the polar opposite of the bluebird rebuild there is some metal forming inspiration I have picked up from here.

Keep up the good work and git er done. :D

Hello & When will Bluebird be ready for testing on the water

Postby Doug+INFINITY 7 » Thu Aug 04, 2011 12:15 am

Hi all,

Im new to here and would just like to start by saying what a fantastic forum, lot's of interesting subjects to get one's teeth into, plus big thanks to all of you who have made it possible, keep it up!

I would also like to congratulate the Bluebird Build team and all associated with it, what you are doing is outstanding, can't wait to see the finished K7 in the original Blue Flesh.

The Museum in Conniston is superb and deserves full support..... as does the full project.

My questions are: Know doubt you've heard this asked before; When will the rebuilt Bluebird K7 be on the water?
Do you have an approximate date yet? And will we be emailed/contacted when this will happen?

When it is I intend to be there!

Thank you

Doug...

Doug

There are two sets of answer to your questions, Bill will possibly supply something more realistic as itis the conserveering which dictates the timescale.

These are the other sort:

When? - that normally requires a financial donation to the BBP as a fine.

Date? - same as 'when?' but a much larger sum.

Followers of the BBP website should hear before the World's press and the period will never be kept secret, even if we tried to move the craft under the cover of darkness to the village. Starting an Orpheus jet engine might be a giveaway too.

Message for Malcolm " The Goose has laid Zzz Egg" Still working on that secret tunnel from Geordie land to Coniston Malcolm. Dog leg in place already for Kielder water just incase, just hope i ain't got to do another long stint down to Snowdonia or North for that matter. Its getting rid of all that dirt you see from a twelve foot wide tunnel, the trousers don't hold much and the bloody string keeps snapping

And you said .... " do not mention the tunnel". Next you will be telling me that you have dug a tunnel under the Tyne which heads back to the Midlands.

I was told that painting anything green ..... perhaps with a few brown blotches ..... allows that object to merge into the Cumbrian scenery. How much green paint will Bill need to buy?
