How much green paint will Bill need to buy?

Buy? A highly inefficient process, if I may say so. It involves scrounging a poisonous and highly corrosive substance called 'money' then swapping chunks of it for what you want. So much easier just to scrounge the paint in the first place. :)

Scrounge up some tins of green and we will see what colour Novie will take on. Perhaps pillar box red before he explodes.

I'm hoping we can scrounge some green primer for the boat, just to have that picture.

Hi all.

My name is Alex and I'm from Leicester. I've been following your project since you discovered K7 on the bottom of Coniston. Me and my good lady were in Coniston a couple of years ago and I had the misfortune of travelling 200 miles to find the Ruskin museam shut!

Just to let you know i'm proud of you all for keeping this British legend in the limelight where he belongs. And most of all, for axing all those idiotic conspriacists that say he was pulling an insurance fiddle. This was wide belief when I first heard of Donald.

I am also in a position to donate some funding for tools/rivets etc if it is still required? I would love to be told of the date you plan to take her out, as sadly I am too young to have witnessed her running in 66/67.

PS:
Out of interest, how long were your deco stops for returning to the surface of coniston, if indeed any? Don't worry, Im not planning on diving the site. I love the technical side of diving but I don't like getting wet!

All the best...

Hi Alex, welcome to the forum. It's a good job you mentioned making a donation in the same breath as asking the dreaded 'when' question, as I guess one cancels the other out! All donations of any size are always very welcome indeed, thank you. :D

As well as just generally asking it all the time, a lot of people seem to think that the answer to 'when' is some kind of a secret that they have to ask to be personally told of...when in fact, when we're good to go, I suspect you won't be able to move in the media for news of the project! 8-)

Yeah I guess your pretty fed up of that question. But as it is with you I'm sure, it's the upmost thing on all your supporters minds.

It is, after all, what these ten years have all been leading up to...

Carry on the good work...

Ten years... our intrepid group first went searching for the wreck in the summer of 96

Had many others before you tried to locate it?

Not that I'm aware of. The navy found the big part of the wreck and many of the cockpit sections back in 67 but of course they never found Donald. There's a bloke from Cornwall who reckoned he'd picked it up with an early sidescan back in the 70s but lots of his story suggested a healthy splattering of bullshit. Then there's the glorious 'magic shovel' story but to the best of my knowledge no one had really been looking and certainly it hadn't been dived since the navy shipped out.

I am sure I'm not the only one who hasn't heard this story. Please tell us more!
