Hello all,

I've always been fascinated by LSR and WSR, particularly the Campbell dynasty, but what leads me to the Bluebird Project in particular is the Barracuda. I'm an aviation writer and specialise in naval aviation and happen to be working on a book on the Barra, which has been an off-and-on thing since I finished my book on the Blackburn Skua four and a half years ago. ...So I look forward to that side of things getting going. But one thing at a time, of course!

I have to add that I have just purchased a copy of the print 'Patience' from the BBP shop and it is absolutely beautiful - a really evocative work and highly recommended. Mine is number 37, so if they are being sold in order there are only another 13 opportunities to own a copy... I can't wait to see the real thing back where she belongs, especially after having been to Coniston last year and Ullswater last month.

I started reading the diary page then decided that it would be only fair to read the diary archive before signing up to the forum and posting, I am up to 2007 so far and thought I might buy the project a weekly Lottery ticket in the hope it hits the jackpot just out of spite for the HLF. The commitment you guys have is staggering and I am beginning to think that reading the diary from 2007 onwards will make me feel like the last 5 years of my life have been truly wasted!

Hi Mike,

Welcome aboard and so glad you're enjoying the diary. I only wish I had more time to write in it but this year has been a little frantic to say the least. Doesn't mean we've not been slogging away though. Just waiting on john to put the lid on the engine cover and Bullfrog to stop stringing out his job on the air intakes and we'll well on our way.

Thanks for the welcome aboard Bill. I'm plugging away at the diary archive but it's dragging me away from working on a regular basis, once I catch up with the diary there's only the forum posts and links to do and I'll feel up to speed! I had built up an impression from the Sky News documetary that the rebuild was a behind closed doors job much like a lot of aircraft rebuilds you never get to see much of, the website and forum have shown how misinformed I was.

We've always tried to be as accessible as possible so it's all there - warts and all. It has the disadvantage of familiarity breeding contempt now and then but that's a small price to pay. No one can say we've not been honest with our audience.

I lose it from time to time but I've had an injured foot for most of this year so I'm afraid the knife and fork has won the day for now. I was porkier then than I am now though, honest!
